SEVEN hundred forty-three will march and receive their diploma from Fr. Eduardo G. Tanudtanud, OMI, president of the Notre Dame University in Cotabato City, on April 1, 2012 during the school’s 63rd Investiture Ceremonies with the theme “Facing Challenges with Intensified F.I.R.E.S. (Faith, Integrity, Respect, Excellence, and Service).
Exercises will start at 8:00 a.m. at the school gymnasium.
This year, eight graduating students are awardees of Excellence in Studies. Junnel Mar Lapaz Bataller, AB Philosophy, will be graduating “Summa Cum Laude.”
For Bataller, “receiving the highest award is such a fulfillment because it only means that all my efforts bear fruits.”
Those graduating “Cum Laude” are Hasmiene Diocolano Ibrahim (BSA), Edward Babao Cabalida (BSEd), Norie Jane Antiquen Vasay (BEEd), Eyart Jaz Villarin Soriano (BSN), Christah Hannah Macadaan Castor (BSN), Norjana Abdullah Kaginor (BSN), and Datu Harris Mokamad Pinguiaman (BSN).
Oliver C. Gonzales (BSN) is this year’s recipient of the University Award for Service and Rachel Ann H. Magsino(BEEd) for the Archbishop Mongeau Award for Religious Excellence.
Among the 743, sixty-nine will be graduating from the College of Arts and Sciences, 128 from the College of Business and Accountancy, 26 from the College of Computer Studies, 87 from the College of Education, 75 from the College of Engineering, 283 from the College of Health Sciences, 36 from the College of Law, and 39 from the NDU-Graduate School.
During the Baccalaureate Exercises on March 31, Atty. Rosemil Robles Bañaga, MBA and LLb graduate of NDU (Cum Laude 2011), will be the guest speaker. Atty. Bañaga ranked fourth in the November 2011 Philippine Bar Exam.
Certificate of Recognition and Appreciation will be given to those Parent Awardees who have at least four family members who are NDU graduates as the graduates, too, will also pay tribute to their parents.
The Baccalaureate Mass Presider will be Fr. Lauro S. de Guia, OMI, Provincial Superior, Oblates of Mary Immaculate, Philippine Province. Thanksgiving Service Prayer Leader for the Moslem is Dr. Alano T. Kadil and for the Ecumenical Service for non-Catholic Christians is Rev. Bartolome M. Tandog.
Junior HS
In another development, NDU will start accepting first year junior high school students for School Year 2012-2013.
NDU has been granted authority to operate First to Second Year of Secondary Education, SY 2012-2013, pursuant to the provisions of Act No. 2706, as amended and Batas Pambansa Blg. 232 (Education Act of 1982). This Temporary Permit, (R-XII) No. 050 s. 2012, was issued March 26, 2012.
Envisioning itself as contributing to the social transformation in Mindanao, NDU sees the formation of its students (academic, sports, socio-cultural) thread through from pre-school to elementary to high school to tertiary education.
Embedded in the formation that NDU provides are the core values of faith, integrity, respect, excellence, and service.
The opening of secondary school was announced by Fr. Tanudtanud during the 58th Graduation Exercises of NDU-Elementary Training Department last March 28. (RMT)
